Cheney Dismisses Critic With Obscenity

Just as his "Fahrenheit 9/11" opens nationwide, several filmmakers are readying documentaries aimed at debunking Michael Moore, and a new film festival is being planned that will feature such works as well as other documentaries well to the right of Moore's films.
Arthur Chrenkoff: The American Film Renaissance promises to screen anti-Michael Moore documentaries as well as "other movies well to the right of Moore's films."
Clayton Cramer: Some Competition The Hollywood Reporter tells us of something that I didn't think was possible: a film festival that isn't leftist!

Where do we stand in this disorienting war?
As we neared three years of fighting in World War II, Patton was stalled near Germany for want of gas, V-2 rockets began raining down on England, and we were fighting to take the Marianas in preparation for future B-29 bases.
Michael DeBow: A (mostly) encouraging note on which to end the week: Victor Davis Hanson is feeling optimistic about the war on terror — but not so optimistic about the home front.
Bill Hobbs: Success in the Balance — Victor Davis Hanson tells how it is really going in the War on Terror: [snipped quote] Brilliant as always.

Not Just a Political Problem

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi cut off Nicholas Berg's head in May. Paul M. Johnson was beheaded last week, and Kim Sun Il was beheaded this week. Yesterday Zarqawi stage-managed a "Tet offensive" across Iraq to dishearten the media audience in the U.S. But I think it is the beheadings that could pose a political problem for John Kerry.
Edward Driscoll: A FAIR QUESTION: Daniel Henniger wants to know if John Kerry thinks it's evil to behead innocent men.

06/24/04: Bush Edges Kerry

Even as insurgents increase their attacks in the days leading up to the June 30 handover, the public's belief that going to war with Iraq was the right thing to do is holding steady.
Cori Dauber: And because they asked more questions pertinent to the war(s), comparing the two sets of numbers yields some additional insights.
Hugh Hewitt: The new Gallup poll puts Bush a point up on Kerry in likely voters, and the Fox numbers have Bush up 6 in a two way race, and 7 with Nader thrown in.
