Iraq & al Qaeda

The 9/11 Commission raises more questions than it answers.
The 9/11 Commission's staff has come down decidedly on the side of the naysayers about operational ties between Saddam Hussein's regime and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
Michelle Malkin: If you haven't already seen this takedown of the 9/11 Commission by Andrew McCarthy, it's devastating.
Jan Haugland: Andrew McCarthy explains it as well as anyone. I am still not coninced that Mohammed Atta did not meet with Iraqi intelligence officer Ahmed al-Ani in Prague in April 2001.

The controversy over Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 just won't go away. The film, which is being advertised with the strapline "Controversy? What controversy?", has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America, meaning no one under 17 can see it.

Rumsfeld ordered prisoner held off the books
  By / MSNBC   —   Permalink
Pentagon officials tell NBC News that late last year, at the same time U.S. military police were allegedly abusing prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison, U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld ordered that one Iraqi prisoner be held "off the books" — hidden entirely from the International Red Cross and anyone else — in possible violation of international law.
TChris: Rumsfeld Authorized Illegal Detention — If Iraq ever becomes truly sovereign, will the Iraqi government try to hold Donald Rumsfeld accountable for this?
Matthew Yglesias: When the Abu Ghraib story broke, the line from the right was that this was just a few bad actors and it had nothing to do with U.S. policy.
Atrios: Rusmfeld - War Criminal — There really isn't any doubt. But, as I was reminded of again last night, official Washington only cares if it involves a Democrat with his zipper down.
Jeanne D'Arc: Jim Miklaszewski describes the search for a place to put him: The Iraqi prisoner was captured last July as deadly attacks on U.S. troops began to rise.
Tim Dunlop: Today we learn that Donald Rumsfeld has been involved in this disreputable and, by most accounts, illegal practice.
Laura Rozen: "Rumsfeld ordered prisoner held off the books: Iraqi terror suspect hidden from International Red Cross," NBC's Jim Miklaszewski reports.
