Chief Strategist of Clinton Campaign Steps Down  —  ALBUQUERQUE — Mark Penn, the architect of much of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign, has been replaced as the campaign's chief strategist in the wake of revelations that he lobbied on behalf of a trade treaty with Colombia that Mrs. Clinton opposes.

Penn out as Clinton senior strategist  —  ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Mark Penn, the pollster and senior strategist for Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential bid, left the campaign Sunday after it was disclosed he met with representatives of the Colombian government to help promote a free trade agreement Clinton opposes.

CLINTON DROPS PENN, SORT OF...  After months of criticism and allegations of conflicts of interest swirling around Mark Penn, Hillary Clinton's “chief strategist,” the Clinton Campaign announced on Sunday that Penn is losing his title.  A terse statement from campaign manager Maggie Williams says:

Mark Penn Finally Fired  —  Late Sunday evening, the Clinton campaign confirmed that Mark Penn was stepping down as chief strategist in the wake of his dust-up with the Colombian government.  That his tenure at the helm of the campaign ended because of a connection to a Burson-Marsteller client is not terribly surprising.
